Crash closes lanes on 5 Freeway through Newhall

Lanes on the southbound 5 Freeway were closed for several hours Thursday morning when a pickup truck crashed into the center divider in the Newhall area.The incident was reported around 3:45 a.m. near the 14 Freeway interchange and just past Calgrove Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol's traffic incident log. The pickup truck was blocking two freeway lanes before the incident turned into a multi-vehicle crash when two other cars became involved. Q: I haven’t driven in the vicinity of the interchange from southbound Interstate 280 to southbound 880 since it was re-engineered, so I don’t remember the exact placement of a sign saying “Weave.” Do your Caltrans contacts know the history of that sign’s usage around the state?“Weave” seems like very pragmatic guidance if you accept that accommodating some access onto a freeway must ultimately be a cooperative maneuver.I always read a “weave” sign as an instruction to alternate. (KRON) -- Mayor London Breed has announced a plan to repave 500 blocks in San Francisco. This is all part of a plan to improve road conditions over the next year.
