Peter Sblendorio | New York Daily News (TNS)More than 125,000 Ford-manufactured vehicles are being recalled due to the possibility of engine failure causing a fire, according to a federal safety report.The recall includes 86,656 model year 2020-23 Ford Escapes, 35,501 model year 2022-23 Ford Mavericks, and 3,165 model year 2021-23 Lincoln Corsairs, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Tuesday.“Affected vehicles have 2.5-liter HEV/PHEV engines that could fail prematurely,” the NHTSA said in a consumer alert. “If they do, engine oil and/or fuel vapor may be released and accumulate near ignition sources, resulting in potential under-hood fires, localized melting of components, or smoke.”Owners will be contacted starting June 12, and a fix for the engine issue is expected to be ready by the year’s third quarter, the traffic safety administration said.“Ford advises customers to safely park and shut off the engine as [quickly] as possible if they hear unexpected engine ...1 dead after being trapped under concrete wall in Pacoima

A person is dead after they were trapped by a fallen wall in Pacoima Wednesday morning, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.The wall's collapse was reported around 8:45 a.m., when firefighters responded to the 10500 block of Glenoaks Boulevard for reports of two people trapped.When firefighters arrived, they found that one person had gotten themselves out, but the other person remained trapped under cinder blocks.The person who self-extricated was taken to a local hospital with back pain. Footage from the scene showed multiple firefighters working to free the unidentified person, who was pronounced dead at the scene at about 10:30 a.m.No information about the victim's identity has been released. A pickup truck crashed into a homeless encampment after rolling down an embankment in the North Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles early Wednesday morning. The crash occurred around 12:15 a.m. on the southbound 405 Freeway onramp near Roscoe Boulevard. The truck drove off the ramp and rolled over, landing on an occupied homeless encampment, a California Highway Patrol spokesperson said.A person inside the encampment was injured and transported to a local hospital in unknown condition. There were also parties trapped inside the pickup truck but they were freed and uninjured, according to the spokesperson. HALF MOON BAY — A 70-year-old man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of molesting a relative in Half Moon Bay about 30 years ago, according to authorities.The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Wednesday morning that the office had begun an investigation into the San Francisco resident in June 2022.
