Hamas blamed an Israeli airstrike, while the Israeli military said the hospital was hit by a rocket misfired by Palestinian militants. The Gaza Health Ministry said at least 500 people were killed. Video that The Associated Press confirmed was from the hospital showed fire engulfing the building and the hospital's grounds strewn with torn bodies, many of them young children. Around them in the grass were blankets, school backpacks and other belongings.Outrage over what many believed was an Israeli strike flared across the region, a day before President Joe Biden was due to arrive to show support for Israel and try to prevent the war from spreading. Just as importantly, I’ve seen Alex up close as a community leader, housing champion and responsive public servant. In 2013, while he was working for our county representative, I casually suggested to him the county should do a gun buyback event. I was pleasantly surprised when he took action, working with then-Supervisor Ken Yeager, the district attorney and the Sheriff’s Office to eliminate 1,100 guns from our community in one day.He is running for the right reasons and with the right vision on key issues like homelessness, public safety and housing affordability.District 6 needs Alex. Take it from a retiree living here for decades: Let’s move ahead with a fresh approach. Alex is our best step forward.Alan ZisserCampbellI...Arab leader summit called off as Biden heads to Israel
